DONATE TO FERNAN-VAZ GORILLA PROJECT

Rescued and orphaned gorillas desperately need regular enrichment. Will you be the one to give them a better life?

Fernan-Vaz Gorilla Project provides a sanctuary for gorillas rescued from the bushmeat and live pet trades in Gabon, Central Africa. Fernan-Vaz Gorilla Project’s mission is to curb the bushmeat and great-ape pet trades. Both problems, along with the exploitation of tropical forests and the danger from emerging diseases, threaten the survival of Gabon’s wild great-ape populations. The Project’s mission includes:

  • The rescue and care of legally confiscated orphaned western lowland gorillas
  • Environmental awareness campaigns and educational tourist visits
  • Sustainable development efforts and community outreach
  • Conservation-oriented research
  • Advocacy and law enforcement

The Project hosts an island Sanctuary for orphaned gorillas, operates a Rehabilitation Center for sick or injured gorillas, monitors daily gorilla activity and promotes conservation of the great apes through educational outreach programs to local communities.
